What to Expect:
Our online, cloud-based platform makes it easy and fun for you to participate.
Through UChicagoConnect, participants engage in free, focused, text-based online chats. Get your medical school application questions answered by an experienced UChicago staff member.
Lines for the chats with UChicago staff will form. While you wait, stop into another chat room to network with other UChicago Alumna/us. You can ask peers for their perspective on the medical school application process, share advice, and build your network.
The chats are text-based and timed, allowing you to quickly meet new people, exchange contact information, and walk away with several new connections you didn't have before. Each chat is saved, making it simple to look back at your history, review your notes, gather contact information and follow up.

About the Staff Representatives:
Joni originally joined Career Advancement in the fall of 2010 as the Senior Associate Director for Student Preparation. In the fall of 2012, Joni assumed the position of Program Director for UChicago Careers in Health Professions. Joni focuses on assisting students and alumni with an interest in the health professions with career exploration, opportunities to engage within the medical/health field, and their application to graduate/professional school and/or a full-time job or internship. Joni also oversees the overall strategy and priorities of the office.
Prior to joining the Career Advancement staff, Joni worked at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine as the Director of Admissions and Outreach. Joni started her career at Yale University where she was the Assistant Director for Health Professions Advising. Joni also has experience in undergraduate admissions and working in a factory assembling cell phones to earn money for graduate school. Joni earned her Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences Education from the University of Northern Iowa, and a Master’s of Arts in Higher Education from the University of Michigan. In her spare time, Joni cheers on the Michigan Wolverines, the Bears, Blackhawks and Cubs, and spends time with her husband and two daughters.
Cassandra Flambouras joined Career Advancement in the fall of 2012. As the Senior Associate Director for UChicago Careers in Health Professions, Cassie focuses on developing, implementing and overseeing UCIHP relationships with key constituencies, including professional schools, campus partners, student organizations and prospective students. Cassie also advises students and alumni interested in pursuing careers in the health professions. Prior to joining the Career Advancement staff, Cassie worked in the College as a Health Professions Adviser for Chicago Careers in Health Professions. Cassie started her career in the health professions as Director of Recruitment for the Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine, where she planned and implemented recruitment and admissions efforts, and where she first encountered UChicago pre-professional students. Cassie also has experience in the government and non-profit arenas. Cassie earned her Bachelor’s degree from Loyola University, Chicago, and her Master’s degree from Georgetown University. In her spare time Cassie travels, and takes advantage of all that Chicago offers, including opera, theater, and art.
